I learned early what it takes to get by in Anchorage. Now I am running for Assembly to make it better for the next generation.
Sydney Scout is a born-and-raised Alaskan who grew up in Southwest Anchorage. She attended Kincaid Elementary, Mears Middle School, Dimond High School, and completed her senior year through the Alaska Pacific University Early Honors Program while living on campus. Like many families in Anchorage, Sydney’s early life included moving often, working young, and learning independence early.
She began working in middle school as a soccer referee and later held jobs at Baskin-Robbins, Gallo’s, and as a cashier and event staff member at the Bear Tooth Theatrepub. Those jobs taught her firsthand what it means to balance school, work, and paying rent while trying to build a future.
Sydney earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and later completed a Master’s degree in Public Policy with a graduate certificate in Energy Policy and Management. Throughout that time, she focused on community organizing, labor advocacy, and local civic engagement. She helped organize workers, including in her own workplaces, supported community campaigns, and later managed campaigns for women running for local office, including legislative, county, and school board races.
After working across the Pacific Northwest in organizing and public service, Sydney returned home to Anchorage. For the past several years, she has worked alongside local organizations, community leaders, and candidates to strengthen neighborhoods, protect public institutions, and support working families.
Sydney is running for the Anchorage Assembly to put her boots-on-the-ground experience to work locally, with a focus on housing stability, safer neighborhoods, reliable city services, and accountability at City Hall.
She believes local government should work for everyday people and is committed to listening, collaborating, and delivering straightforward, practical results for North Anchorage families.
If you’re ready for an Assembly member who shows up, listens, and gets to work, I’d be honored to earn your support.
